Lawrence North High School
Felisha Johnson started her budding career at Scecina Memorial High School as a basketball player. Transferring to Lawrence North High School, she felt that she needed another sport to balance her basketball success and chose the throwing events of track and field, where success duplicated that of basketball and in fact led her to two IHSAA State Finals championships in the shot put in 2007 and 2008, with a best throw of 47-6 1/4. Aggressively recruited by many for both basketball and track and field, she chose Indiana State University. There, she earned a lengthy list of accolades: nine NCAA All-American, three Indoor All-Missouri Valley Conference, two Outdoor All-Missouri Valley, Most Valuable Field Athlete 2013 Missouri Valley Indoor and Outdoor Athlete of the Year, plus appearances at the 2012 Olympic Trials and the 2013 World University Games. Johnson holds ISU records in the following events: indoor shot put, 20 pound weight throw, outdoor shot put, discus and hammer.
She signed a professional contract with Nike and competed extensively in the Diamond League and represented Team USA at the 2016 Olympic Games.
