The Indiana Track & Field Hall of Fame Museum has lost a good friend and hall of fame member.
Coach Bill Welch passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the age of 96.
A memorial service was held for Bill Welch, retired Rose-Hulman cross country and track and field coach, on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Indiana Track & Field Hall of Fame Museum.
As always, please let us know if you have any suggestions for the newsletter and how we can continue to find new ways to help honor our Indiana legends. Please remember that we have a presentation on the Hall of Fame Museum that is ready to take on the road to present to organizations that might be interested in our efforts. Let us know if you know of any group that would be interested in our story.
If you have missed any issues, please send me an email message and we will be happy to take care of that.
Continued good wishes for health and success ... on and off the track.

The faces and settings differ. Some photographs are black-and-white, some color, and some a bit grainy. Some runners don steel cleats, kicking up black pellets on a cinder track. Uniform and hair styles vary by era. Yet, all share connections through passing generations — their eyes look youthful and their bodies strong. All found success, in that snapshot of time, on the same scale, beating competitors, the measuring tape, or the clock.
Even kids — born more than a century after some of the pictured runners, jumpers and throwers — stand and stare.
