Bethany Neeley

During Bethany's decorated high school track and field career, she was a 13-time sectional champion, five-time regional champion and eight-time state medalist (800, 1600, 300 hurdles, 4x400, 4x800).  Bethany was the 2012 and 2013 1600-meter state champion in her junior and senior seasons.  She was also a member of the 2013 4x800 state champion relay team that ran 8:53.74, breaking the Indiana state meet record as well as becoming the first relay team in state history to break the 9:00 barrier.  This time was the top time in the nation in 2013 and the ninth-best time ever in U.S. high school history.  Bethany split a time of 2:06.6 to anchor the relay team to a state championship after receiving the baton from her twin sister, Brittany.  This was recorded as the fastest relay split in state history.

As a result of these performances, Bethany was awarded the 2013 IHSAA Mental Attitude Award and was named 2013 Indiana Miss Track and Field. Bethany went on to compete at the Midwest Meet of Champions where ran 4:42.42 in the 1600, at the time the fastest in state history.  This is a title she would go on to hold for nine years.  To cap off her historic senior season, Bethany competed at the 2013 USATF Junior Nationals, where she finished runner-up in the 3000 steeplechase.  Her time of 10:19 in the event was the fourth fastest time in U.S. high school history.  This performance qualified her as a Team USA member for the 2013 Pan American Games in Medellin, Columbia. In total, Bethany broke four state records (4x800, 1600, 2000 steeplechase and 3000 steeplechase) in a span of 20 days in June of 2013.

Bethany went on to compete collegiately at Indiana University and North Carolina State University.  At NC State, she was a two-time ACC team champion in cross country and a member of three top-10 team finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.  Bethany earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Sport Management from NC State and now resides in Denver, Colorado, where she works in the mortgage and real estate industry.   Additionally, she coaches high school cross country and track.
