Portage High School
Class of 2011, Tori Bliss amassed four IHSAA state titles in the shot put (2009-2011) and discus (2010) during her prep career. Her 2011 state finals put (50’ 9”) set the state record and helped Bliss become the 2011 recipient of the Robert S. Hinshaw Mental Attitude Award. She was named the 2010 – 2011 Indiana Gatorade Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year after successfully defending her New Balance Nationals shot put championship title and setting a new personal best (50’9.5”). Her personal best in the shot put and discus (148’ 2”) were both set during her senior year.
After concluding a distinguished prep career, Bliss extended her throwing career at Louisiana State University (LSU). She became LSU’s most decorated shot putter earning three NCAA Division I All-American honors and two All-Southeastern Conference honors, including a 2015 SEC Indoor Championship title and meet-record throw (60’ 1”). In addition, she was named to the 2015 SEC Community Service Team as a senior and currently holds LSUs indoor (60’ 7”) and outdoor (60’8”) shot put school records.
