THE INDIANA ASSOCIATION of Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (IATCCC) honors the accomplishments of Indiana athletes through its annual hall of fame nominations and recognition

What an up and down year the Gary Roosevelt 4x440 relay of Eugene Anderson, James Harris, Larry Hood and Walter Little had. They finished second in the sectional to Gary Tolleston, then won the regional with a time of 3:15.7, less than a half second off the national high school record and an all-time state record. It was the fastest high school time in the country in the event that season.

Jessie Sprinkles, Sarah Wagner, Brittany Neeley and Bethany Neeley

Eastern High School (Greentown) was the first 4x800 relay team in state history to beat the historic 9:00 barrier when they ran 8:53.74 to become the 2013 IHSAA state champions.  This time broke the previous state meet record by 10 seconds and was the fastest time in the nation in 2013, as well as the ninth-best time in U.S. high school history.

Tamara Adams, Lakieta Rox, Kyndal Carr & Zakiya Robinson

The Fort Wayne Northrop sprinters were the cream of the crop in 2003. They went first, second and third in the 200 meters, the only time in the girls finals that a team ever placed three in an event and the first three places. The 4x100 meter relay set an IHSAA record that still stands after 19 years. In accomplishing this feat, they didn't even use their 200 meter winner Shauntel Elcock. The record time of 45.75 broke crosstown rival Fort Wayne Concordia's 2002 record of 47.32 by 1.57 seconds.

The lead off runner was freshman Tamara Adams, who would in 2006 become they only Indiana girl to win both the 100 meters and 100 hurdles in the same championship meet. She had five IHSAA state championship gold medals, two silver and two bronze and was nine times all-state.

The 1982 4x100 Gary Roosevelt relay team still holds the IHSAA state finals record some 38 years later in 41.02. It was a historical group that made up this relay: Don Young who at this writing holds the number #2 spot on the 100-meter all-time list at 10.19, Glenn Moore third in 10.22, Jeffrey Patrick fifth in 10.25 and Alan Price, who might have been among the list of great sprinters had he not been running with such great dashmen. Three of the relay members would become the only athletes from a school to place first (Jeffery Patrick), second (Don Young) and third (Glen Moore) in an IHSAA state championship. They all had to meet the qualifying standard in the IHSAA regional meet to qualify to the state meet (only two automatically qualify in each event).

Gary West Side 4x400 relays have been the dominate relay since the IHSAA went metric in 1980 and for 41 years they have held the IHSAA State Meet record of 3:13.66. Only two other teams have broken the 3:15 mark (Center Grove 2011 and Hamilton Southeastern 2013).
