David Woods

David Woods covered track and field for The Indianapolis Star from 1994 through 2022, reporting from six summer Olympic Games. He has written for newspapers in Illinois, California and Indiana, and most recently for the DyeStat track and field website. He is the only four-time winner of Track and Field Writers of America’s Jesse Abramson Award for journalism.

Ron Raver

Ron Raver’s life was typical of a youngster growing up in the 1940s and early 1950s. He lived on a farm in Oldenburg, Indiana. He attended eighth grade in Oldenburg and then went to Batesville High School just a few miles away.

In high school Ron ran track, played baseball and basketball, all at the varsity level. Cross country was not offered. His main events in track were the 440-yard dash, high jump and the mile relay.

Lee Aldridge

Class of 2020 Monday, 14 June 2021 12:13

Lee graduated from Indiana University in 1959, where he attended on an athletic scholarship and earned a B.S. in physical education. He played basketball on two Big Ten championship teams. In 1969, Lee earned an M.S. in business education from Ball State University. Lee has been married to his wife Ruth Nash Aldridge for 58 years. He spent 36 years in public education, the last 30 at Pioneer High School, where he served as athletic director for 20 years. For 48 years, Lee served as an IHSAA official in football, track and field, cross country and swimming. Notable involvement includes being a part of the starting crew for the state finals for 13 years and officiating five 5A football championships. Lee also served for several years as an IHSAA rules interpreter for track and field and football. 

Steve Cotherman

Class of 2021 Tuesday, 22 March 2016 21:10

Steve Cotherman graduated from Goshen High School in 1968, where he ran cross country, track, and played basketball. Influenced by high school coach Dean Slavens, Steve attended Ball State University and ran cross country and track from 1969 – 1972.
