The 1962 4x440 Relay had a very interesting season competing against Gary Roosevelt throughout the year, winning the sectional and the state finals, while only losing to Roosevelt in the regional. Their IHSAA State Finals time of 3:17.6 on a very soggy track was a state championship record until Gary West Side broke it with a 3:14.8 clocking in 1976.
The team was made up of Howard Harris, who won the 440-yard race in 49.9, Robert Holden, Willie Lewis, who would win the 440-yard dash in 1964 in 48.6 and Willie Lloyd, the second place runner in the 220-yard dash.
