Lee Brown of Indianapolis Manual Training High Schools “Blacksmith” cross country team won the annual meet held around Thanksgiving. Each year since the early 1900’s Indianapolis High School (now Shortridge) and Indianapolis Manual Training High School have a competition of running over a course laid out by the host school of different distance, many times of over five miles. There were times when the teams would get lost, but it was an extremely popular team sport. Indianapolis Arsenal Technical High School enter the competition in 1914.
