Wabash College scheduled a meet with DePauw University on the same day as the IHSAA sectional was to be run. The meet could not be moved to Crawfordsville High School because of the hurdle issue. It was common at the time that few high schools had enough hurdles to run more than three lanes. Therefore, Wabash College welcomed both meets to be run at the same time. It gave them a good opportunity to entertain young men to get the athletes to attend their college. No complaints were lodged to either Wabash College or the IHSAA.
